 From Mrs. Yecha...

From a young age, I knew that I wanted to be a teacher. As I grew older, my experiences with my brother with autism led me to a passion for helping all students, especially those who have special needs. I attended Washington State University and received my degree in elementary education and special education. I married my college sweetheart, Patrick and my last name is now Yecha (pronounced Yeh-ka).  I go by "Mrs. Y" for shortness and ease.  :)  While I’m not in the classroom, I like to spend time with family and friends, spend time on the water, do crafty things like scrapbooking, shop, watch TV and drink coffee.  Patrick and I recently bought our first house and are busy spending time in the yard.  We are very excited as this new chapter of our lives unfolds!

Here at Chief Joseph, I teach Life Skills and Peer Buddies. I work along side four paraprofessionals. They are Alison Hoyt or "Mrs. H.", Ann Schoenwald or "Mrs. S.", Melissa Bradford or "Mrs. B" and Alison "Ali" Nipper or "Mrs. A."  They are essential to the work and tasks that we do each day.
